John 7: 37-39

 (John 7: 37-39)

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)(John 7: 37-39)

God commanded the Hebrew people to flee Egypt three times a year to keep "the feast of God." (Exodus 23:14) On the 49th day after his escape from Egypt, Moses heard God's voice and went up to Mount Sinai the next day. Before Moses went up the mountain, he explained to the people what he had heard from God. That is the content of Exodus 23. It is about the feast the Hebrew people must keep.

Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:) (Exodus 23:15)

The feast of unleavened bread, It was already preserved by the people when they came out of Egypt, and they heard it again from Moses. Just as the Lamb died that night in Exodus, Jesus Christ died on the cross at Passover. And God said, "Remember the hardships of the people until the exodus of Egypt, and the Israelites crossing the Red Sea." This is like remembering the crucifixion of Christ in the New Testament.

And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field. (Exodus 23:15)

This feast in the New Testament is the day after the ascension of Jesus, the Holy Spirit descended upon the earth. When the Hebrews begin the harvest and blow the trumpets on July 1 (end of year), they no longer harvest and store the harvested crops. There are two world calendars. It is a calendar kept by the solar calendar completed in the Roman Empire and the feasts of Israel.

But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus. And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.(Acts 18: 21-22)

The feast spoken by Paul is the tabernacle. He went to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast. Where he went was the church, not the temple. For this feast is related to the Holy Spirit. It is different from the Holy Spirit who came to earth on Pentecost. The Spirit of Tabernacles and the Spirit of Pentecost differ in their roles. The same Spirit, but different roles.

The tabernacle's Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit of salvation. But the Spirit of Pentecost is the Spirit of power. The Holy Spirit of salvation enters the heart of the repentant. Thus the repentant is born again by the power of the Holy Spirit. But the Spirit of power rests upon the reborn. When the saving Spirit enters the repentant, he becomes God's people. But when you receive the Holy Spirit of Power at Pentecost, you receive power from the Holy Spirit when you testify of Jesus.

After Jesus died, the meaning of the temple changed. The temple is not a building, but the saints become a temple. It is not because the Holy Spirit of God dwells in the temple, but because the Holy Spirit dwells in the born-again. John 1:12 speaks of authority. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

John 7:37-39 also speaks of authority. In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)Jesus said, "Ye are a temple." And the Holy Spirit, who comes upon the born-again, gives him the same power as darniamite.

To represent the Bible in Pentecost and Tabernacles as "Rain", says early rain (Feast of Tabernacles), the latter rain (Pentecost). Early rain is the Holy Spirit of salvation, and late rain is the Holy Spirit of power. Many church people seek the Holy Spirit of power without knowing the Holy Spirit of Salvation. So they like tongues, want to see visions, and seek the experience of the Holy Spirit. But if you are not born again, it is of no use. We must be born again of water and the Holy Spirit. Water means the dead, and the Holy Spirit gives birth. The reborn are the people of the kingdom of God.
