John 6: 60-64
(John 6: 60-64)
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard
this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples
murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of
man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the
flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and
they are life. But there
are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they
were that believed not, and who should betray him.
『It is the spirit that
quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they
are spirit, and they are life. 』 People do not understand well about spirit, soul, and body. In
Ecclesiastes 12:7, 『Then shall the dust return to
the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. 』Soil is expressed in this way because the human body is made of
dirt. In Genesis 3:19, "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread,
till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou
art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 』
In Genesis
2:7, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the
ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a
living soul. When a person dies, the body returns to the dust and the spirit
returns to God. It is the spirit that God has blown into the nose. In Luke 8,
the daughter of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue, died, and Jesus saves a
dead girl. In Luke 8:55, 『And her spirit came again,
and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. 』 It is the same for God to bring life to life and the return of the
Spirit.
In 2 Corinthians 5:2-4『For in this we groan, earnestly
desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall
not be found naked. For we
that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be
unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 』
The word
tabernacle means the shape of a house or body. It is called soma in Greek, and
John used the word "body shape" when expressing the body of Jesus as
a temple. The shape of the body is the body that contains the spirit. Also in 1
Corinthians 15:44, "It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual
body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 』So the body of the spirit means the body that contains the spirit.
In 2 Corinthians 5:1, ``For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle
were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands,
eternal in the heavens.』
Our tent
house means flesh. The eternal house in heaven means the body of the spirit.
This is because if we cannot put on the spirit body, the house from heaven, we
become naked. So the apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:6, ``Therefore we are
always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are
absent from the Lord: 』
When the spirit is in the body, it is separate from God. However, since the
spirit knows how to wear the body of the spirit, we are thinking boldly. It
means that the spirit from the kingdom of God migrates to the material world
and is separate from the Lord, but puts on the body of the spirit and is with
the Lord. So, those who are regenerated as spirit bodies are with the Lord. It
is to take back the tent of the kingdom of God that was left behind. In 2
Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the
judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his
body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 』.
In order for
the dead spirit to be alive, the fresh body that traps the spirit must die. The
state of the dead of the spirit is expressed as a prisoner or a blind person.
That is why Jesus comes and frees the prisoners, opens the eyes of the blind,
heals the demon-possessed, and guides those in darkness to the light. Those who
are united with Jesus Christ will receive this grace. To be united with Jesus
Christ, we must die with Jesus.
