John 16: 12-29

(John 16: 12-29)

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.  All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.  A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.  Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?  They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.  Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?  Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.  A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.  And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.  These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.  At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:  For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.

Regarding Jesus' public life, John 16 is the point at which the time of Jesus' public life is near. Soon, there is not much time left for Jesus to die. Because the Lord knew this, he told his disciples about his situation and what was to come. Nevertheless, the disciples still did not know immediately about the Lord, who had fallen together for three years.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. The Spirit of Truth leads the disciples to the cross. Only the cross becomes the truth. It is not the Spirit of truth that does not speak of the cross. So, whether or not the Spirit of truth is working can be known through Jesus' death on the cross.

Jesus, who spoke of the work of the Holy Spirit, said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. , as if it was an ambiguous word. Among the disciples said to each other, Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? 18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. The disciples can hardly understand. Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me Then the Lord, who listened to the disciples' words, asked them, "Are you discussing what I said right now?"

The disciples couldn't accept Jesus' death itself, so they couldn't understand what Jesus said when he was going and the Holy Spirit was coming. When a Christian believes in Christ, he knows Christ. It is not just knowing through religious learning through infusion, but meeting and knowing Christ. To meet Christ, they die on the cross with Jesus Christ and meet on the cross. So, to know the reason for Christ's suffering, to know the grace and mystery of Christ's death, to know the presence of the living Christ, who rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. In other words, knowing why the Lord suffered, why He died, how He was raised, and what He promised. We are those who have left God, that Christ has come to save those who have left, and those who have left God repent to God, and when united with the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ, God will cover the sins of those who have left God through the penalty of sin.

In particular, ``In a little while'' or ``In a moment'' is repeated several times. As Jesus said, all the things the Lord said happened after a while, just as we did not know Jesus, we died and resurrected after a while. As I knew the living Christ of God, and knowing that Jesus will come again after a while, it is to know that the time of life is not long, even if the moment of waiting is long, but not long, and is united with the living Jesus to the end of life. .

It is about joy and response. Eventually, sorrow will change into joy, pain will change into joy, and God will give you what you ask for. For his disciples, Jesus' suffering and death on the cross were indescribable loss and despair. It would have been pain beyond sorrow, it would have been the beginning of anxiety and fear. Because Jesus was the great will, expectation, and life of the disciples. Jesus already knew that. Therefore, God gave his disciples new courage and promises through the Word.

Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. . Those who are reborn as spirit bodies have their physical bodies (old people) dead, but in reality their bodies are alive and Satan attacks them. So, if the saints do not remember that they are dead with Christ, they will all become scattered. But those who die with Christ are always with Heavenly Father.
