John 15: 18-27
(John 15: 18-27)
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world
would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you
out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto
you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they
will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours
also. But all these things
will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent
me. If I had not come and
spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their
sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works
which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and
hated both me and my Father. But
this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their
law, They hated me without a cause. But when the Comforter is come, whom I
will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth
from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness,
because ye have been with me from the beginning.
This seems
like a word of encouragement and help to the disciples who are hated in the
world. 『If ye were of the world, the world would love his
own: but because ye are not of the world.』 When the
saints preach the Gospel to save the spirit, the evil satan is hated through
man. Before Satan hated the saints, he first hated Jesus and was crucified. The
Greek word translated “to hate”
is “misei”, which has a
stronger meaning not only “to hate” but also “to hate and persecute”.『 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are
not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world
hateth you..』
And the Bible
reveals why the world hates the saints. This is because the saints are not of
the world. The Greek word translated into the world means cosmos, which means
many things, but it means the world in which people live.
There are worldly values in our world. It's an idea that the world takes
seriously and absolutely. And the characteristics of the worldly values are
visible, material, and temporal. The world is driving people into worldly
values with a powerful invisible force. This is, in the end, a value that is
completely contrary to the truth of the Gospel that the Lord came into the
world to convey and lived in the body. Therefore, the world has no choice but
to hate the saints who follow the values of Christ.
The world
hates and persecutes Christians. Christians are people who live after the
gospel values delivered by the Lord and lived in the body, contrary to worldly
values. The saints are those who boldly say that what they see in the world is
not everything, that they hold in their hands is not everything, and that the
present world is not everything, and they testify of the eternal kingdom of
God.
The world's
hatred for the saints does not end once. As long as history continues, the
world's hatred and persecution against the saints continues. They make laws
that go against the Bible, hate and persecute the saints, seduce them with
visible and sensuous things, and finally try to knock them down. Nevertheless,
if a believer is a person who has received the Gospel of Christ, preaching the
Gospel to the end and living the Gospel life, it will surely reap fruit.
