John 14: 1-12
(John 14: 1-12)
Let not your heart be troubled:
ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for
you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive
you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And
whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know
not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am
the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have
known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus
saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known
me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou
then, Shew us the Father? Believest
thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak
unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth
the works. Believe me that
I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very
works' sake. Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he
do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Jesus said that after
his final meal with his disciples, Jesus would leave the world and go to God.
Jesus, who is well aware of the troubled hearts of his disciples, comforted
them and said, "Do not be troubled with your hearts. Believe in God and
believe in me." ``There are many places to dwell in my Father's house,
otherwise I would have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you. 』This
dwelling refers to the body of the spirit.
It is the garment of
Christ worn by the born again. Jesus has been with his disciples for the past
three years, showing and teaching many things, so they say that they know the
way Jesus is going. “You know where I am going, and
that way.” But Thomas, who had a lot of doubt among the
disciples, replied, “How can I know the way Jesus is
going? To Thomas' answer, the Lord said, "I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No one comes to the Father except through me." The only way to go to
God is the cross.
"Philip said,
"Lord, show us your Father, so that will be enough." Then Jesus
replied, "Philip, I have been with you for so long, but you do not know
me? He who has seen me has seen the Father. I don't say what I say by myself,
but the Father is in me and does his work.” In
Christ, God and the saints become one.
Philippians 2:6 says,
``Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with
God:'', so God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son are one in the Holy Spirit.
Jesus also says, "I tell you the truth, he who believes in me will do what
I do, and he will also do more than that, because I go to the Father." It
means that those who believe in Jesus do what Jesus does and do even greater
things. The Lord works through those who believe in Him.
