John 13: 36-38
(John 13:
36-38)
Simon Peter said unto him, Lord,
whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me
now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards. Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot
I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake. Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down
thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow,
till thou hast denied me thrice.
In the Bible, it
says, "Only the righteous will live by faith." But he said, "In
the Gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed and appears from faith to
faith." The beginning of the gospel is the manifestation of God's
righteousness. Realize that humans are sinners because of God's righteousness.
The standard is not with us, but with God. God will let you know how great a
sin human beings are. Only in front of Jesus Christ, who died in the face of
the cross, can we realize this and repent.
Peter has been a
miracle since following Jesus. When Jesus asks to borrow Peter's empty boat,
Peter gives him his empty boat. First, he gets an opportunity to form the
kingdom of God on this earth. After the Lord preached on an empty boat, he said
to Peter, "Throw your net in the depths." Peter said, "Teacher,
I threw the net all night long, but I couldn't catch anything, but I will rely
on your word to lower the net." That way, a lot of fish were caught enough
to tear the net.
Peter experienced
miracles as much as he obeyed. Surprisingly, however, Peter said, "Lord,
leave me, and I am a sinner." When we obey the word of the Lord, we
realize how sinful we are to God. And he witnessed his mother-in-law's fever
healed immediately. Peter is the type of experiencing miracles the most. He saw
the rise of the dead Lazarus and witnessed the appearance of the Lord's clothes
turning white on the Mount of Transfiguration at the Second Coming. And on the
Mount of Transfiguration, the representatives of the two pillars of the Old
Testament, Moses and Elijah, the law and the prophet, came to this world from
the kingdom of God. It was Peter who saw this sight. He was the one who saw
what the Lord said and it was done.
In Matthew 14, Peter
also experienced the miracle of five barley loaves and two fish. When Jesus
made the water cross first, a storm broke out. Peter said, "Lord, if you
are you, command me to come." I told him to come. Peter obeyed. He
surpassed reason and experience and came out on the water. If you obey the Lord
with all your heart, He works these miracles. All the problems today are
failure to obey the Lord wholeheartedly. To those who obey Him with all their
heart, the Lord will empower them. The Lord inspects the whole earth and gives
power to those who turn to him with all his heart. Even those who are bitten by
a serpent are looking for those who look to God only through Christ instead of
the brass serpent.
Peter believed and
followed the word of the Lord with all his heart. So he walked on the water.
Peter's heart at the time was, "I will lay my life for you." They
risk their lives and try to follow the Lord. The Lord who tries to follow with
all his life is the living Lord. However, that faith is not a saved faith.
Jesus said to Peter,
"I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows you will deny me three
times." It is a faith that runs away from the cross. Repentance must deny
self (evil) before the cross. Confessing and reflecting on the sins of the
death penalty such as lies, murder, adultery, envy, jealousy, etc. is to be
forgiven of the sins of the world, but the important thing is that the sins
that have been passed down from parents and the inner human sin must die. The
idol-like sin that hides deep within the being of self must die. That is why he
is telling him to deny himself. This is the essence of repentance. Confessing all kinds of sins is
nothing more than finding the shell of evil. It is a symptom of sin from evil.
